Viewpoints on 24/7 Learning... from the Students

You have been introduced to the power and potential for learning with a MacBook computer. Now, imagine the possibility of having this tool in your backpack 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. What benefits to your learning would this create? What problems, if any, would arise if every student had their own school-issued MacBook. Brainstorm possible projects, learning opportunities, and things that would change if O'Neill adopted a 24/7 Learning Initiative.

I think a 24/7 learning would be a great thing because students who don't have a computer can get computer assingments done easily. The computer is growing rapidly in todays society and students need all the learning experiences they can get with computers.

For thoes students who dont have a home computer, a school-issued laptop would provide them an opportunity to be able to experience technology that they normally wouldn't be able to, and that is something everyone should experience. With our world becoming more techonlogically advanced, each student having a computer would equipp them more for the "real world". However the problem of the computers being stolen, or broken is a problem.

I think that having a MacBook 24/7 would be awesome because I think it would prompt kids to get more into learning because they'd be working with computers instead of having to write on paper...instead they could type their assignments on the computer and save them and not have to be worried about loosing it and not having an extra copy of it. The only problem that I can think of with the MacBooks would be the way some people would treat them. Now I do agree that some people would treat them with care but there are some people that just wouldn't care about them.

I think that having computers for all kids in school would be an awsome thing! There are a few people, like me, that dont have a computer at home. This is a problem because most of the homework you do in the upper grades have to be typed. It makes it hard to do your homework without a computer. But there is a bad side to it! Kids may take advantage of this by maybe looking up inapropriate things or playing games during class. But if there is a way that the system would block the games and inappropriate sites then this would work. I do hope we get the computers!

I think having a computer on hand would be a benefit to every student! We could access the internet easily, and have all the programs that are compatable with the school. We could also use the laptop on the go (bus rides to games, for example), so, as students, we can finish homework on time and efficiently. Unfortunately, there will be problems. Damage to the computers will be common, and some will magically sprout legs and "go missing". But, as with all privileges, there will always be some who abuse them. The program atleast needs a trial run, to see if it proves effective for our school.

I feel that each student should have their own laptop, because then it would provide each student with always having access to the internet for assignments. I also feel this would be better for the environment, because if each student had their own laptop they could just email the assignment and not use paper.

n my opinion, providing each student a laptop to use and be responsible for is a fantastic idea. Not only would it be useful for school work and learning, but also a lesson of responsibility.
